XADM: How to Send Replication Status Request Messages in Exchange 2000 Server:


"After you install this feature, you can configure Exchange 2000 Server to generate status request messages for the public folder hierarchy. To do so, you must add the Enable Replication Messages At Startup registry value. To add the registry value, follow these steps.WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedt32 in the Open box, and then click OK to start Registry Editor.
2. Locate and then click the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MsExchangeIS\\Public-(guid)
3. On the Edit menu, click Add Value.
4. In the Value Name box, type Enable Replication Messages At Startup.
5. In the Data Type list, click REG_DWORD, and then click OK.
6. In the Data box, type 1 (one), and then click OK.

Note If you set this value to 1, each time the public store starts, a status request message is sent. If you set the value to 0 (the default setting), no status request message is sent when the public store starts.
7. Quit Registry Editor.
